Mike Freedman is a professional guitarist, composer and instructor based out of Toronto, Canada. His versatility has allowed him to be involved in a wide array of music projects, performances and recordings. Mike graduated cum laude from Berklee College of Music in 1990 with a degree in Film Scoring and jazz guitar and has been actively involved in the music scene ever since. Prior to attending Berklee, Mike spent several years studying classical guitar under the well respected teacher, Eli Kassner. His musical studies at Berklee included private lessons and study in a wide array of guitar styles and studying the solos of many great players which he continues to incorporate into his playing today.
Over the years Mike has recorded two singer/songwriter CD's of his own material, as well as two CD's of instrumental guitar music. Mike has also played on many other CD's and continues to perform in original bands in the greater Toronto area as well as in the US and Europe. Mike has also co-written and performed with other jazz singers who have reached #1 on the itunes jazz charts, including Tia Brazda, who he continues to co-write and tour with. Mike received honorable mention in the John Lennon Songwriting Competition and has many of his songs and instrumental music placed in film and TV. As a composer, Mike has written the score for three feature films and many short films. He is also an active co-writer and producer, having co-written many other artists including; Tia Brazda, Ed Roman, The Willows, Steven Taetz and Barbra Lica.
Mike is currently promoting his latest album in the instrumental jazz genre, "Into The Daybreak" So far the album has been received extremely well by critics, fans and radio. Mike is currently #1 on the CFUV jazz radio charts and is receiving radio airplay across Canada and the U.S You can find out more about the CD here
